Last night, we invited local Airbnb hosts and leaders of London’s most innovative community regeneration projects to a ‘Host Meetup’ at the Airbnb London HQ. They spoke about the regeneration of outer boroughs, inspired each other with new ideas and discussed how the Airbnb community could contribute to regeneration projects and help make communities better places to live and visit.
We were honoured to welcome speakers from other regeneration startups and projects to share their thoughts about the future of our growing city. Their presentations sparked ideas and conversations about specific ways Airbnb and our host community can work together to support our capital and the communities that call it home.
Around 60 Airbnb hosts joined us from all over London to hear from the Peckham CoalLine, The Line, 3Space and Global Garden. The common thread of our discussion was how a community can come together behind one small idea and, ultimately, make a real difference. Finn Williams from the Greater London Authority provided an overview of community regeneration and talked about the City’s innovative funding partnership with SpaceHive, a civic crowdfunding platform.
As always, we felt incredibly privileged to connect with London hosts and to watch this vibrant and powerful local community continue to grow. We know Airbnb hosts take pride in their communities, and we look forward to updating this blog with future plans for the regeneration projects that were hatched at last night’s inspiring event.
